The Vanuavou farm program is right on target at this point in time. The targeted output for  2017/ 2018 of  10,000 (5,000/ year) yaqona plants are already accomplished. The lease offer has been issued by TLTB on 24th April, 2018 and we have paid $1,500 processing fee on 27th April, 2018. The approximately 20 acre lease (20.4487 HA) is an agricultural lease. As planned by your executives another 5,000 plants are due next year, a farm house, water/ road access, and  a farm manager are in the pipeline as targets for the end of 2018.

Mr. Peni Delaibatiki

Welcome to another season, and I bring best wishes from FTA to teachers and retired teachers, who are serving in Fiji and world wide. As you are aware, FTA is going through a lot of negotiations behind the scene with the government of the day trying to ensure government restores our right of collective bargaining.

The spirit of tripartite agreement where employee, employer and government sit and come to a consensus on all planned reform processes, has not been honoured by government and is one of the reasons the reforms are not working as smoothly as it should.

Now we are bringing up our employee side issues of the reforms on OMRS, Job Evaluation Exercise, Contracts, Interviews and Job Tests which had been prepared solely  by government. Unions are compelled to complain as we were only informed after the main structures had been put in place.

Had we been involved, we would have also taken ownership of the reforms with government and there would have been no negative reactions from us. Despite the rough and tumble of the new beginning for 2018, we advise  members to follow instructions clearly and also bring any issues you face with us, as at times we are not aware.

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Romans 15 :13

May the new term bring more blessings!

Mr Netani Druavesi

A big bula vinaka and welcome to all member teachers for the year 2018. Despite the challenging changes, teachers of Fiji are facing today, it is important to ensure that you are aware of the changes, able to follow through them and come out better, wiser, stronger and faster in our work as teachers of the future of Fiji. Romans 8:28 “We know all things work good for those who love him, those he has called according to his purpose” This urges us to be positive in all things for it is by God’s calling, we are where we are. The positiveness powered by faith radiates into our children, schools, communities and makes Fiji the way the world should be. Our Annual Delegates Conference (ADC Meeting) has been postponed to week 1 of term 2 holidays due to natural disasters caused by Cyclone Josie and Cyclone Keni.

Our Union and National Elections will be held in 2018 and we are advised to keep ourselves updated, so that we are able to update others accurately.

 May God bless you all
